Notes
MakerVault lets you attach personal notes to any file. Notes are saved to the local database, not to the file itself, so your original files are never modified.
Adding notes
Section titled “Adding notes”- Select a file to open the detail panel.
- Click Add note (or click in the existing notes area).
- Type your note.
- Notes auto-save with a debounced delay — no save button needed.
You can also add notes from the expanded file row inline view.
Two types of notes
Section titled “Two types of notes”MakerVault distinguishes between two types of notes:
My Notes (user notes)
Section titled “My Notes (user notes)”Notes you write yourself. These are fully editable and searchable.
Source Notes (extracted metadata)
Section titled “Source Notes (extracted metadata)”Notes extracted from inside the file. For LightBurn files, this includes the “Show Notes” content that’s embedded in the file. Source notes are read-only and displayed separately from your personal notes.
Searching notes
Section titled “Searching notes”Both note types are included in the search index. You can also use the filter popup to filter by files that have notes, with optional keyword search within the notes.
Notes in export
Section titled “Notes in export”When you export your library, all notes are included in the export JSON file and can be imported into another MakerVault instance.
