Related Files

MakerVault lets you create bidirectional links between related files. This is useful for tracking how files relate to each other — for example, linking a LightBurn project to the SVG it was derived from, or linking a design to its exported G-code.

TypeReverseUse case
Derived FromSource File”This LightBurn file was made from this SVG”
Source FileDerived FromThe original file another was created from
VariantVariantAlternative versions of the same design
ExportExportAn exported output (G-code, PDF, etc.)
ReferenceReferenceGeneral relationship between files
Uses FontUsed ByA design file that uses a specific font
  1. Select a file and open the detail panel.
  2. Scroll to the Related Files section.
  3. Click Link File.
  4. Search for the file you want to link to.
  5. Select a relationship type.
  6. Click Link.

Related files appear in the detail panel with:

  • The linked file’s name (clickable to navigate to it)
  • A relationship badge (e.g., “Derived From”, “Variant”)
  • A remove button to delete the link

Links are bidirectional. If File A is “derived from” File B, then File B shows File A as a “source file”.

MakerVault automatically creates “uses font” links between LightBurn files and font files when it detects matching font names. See Font Auto-Linking for details.
